THE FASCINATING CHIMERA PROJECT

aka FCP

is a three-piece band from New York.

Alex Daud, Andrew Emge (also of The Big Net), and Dylan Nowik (also of Camp Saint Helene, Clairo) became friends while living and playing music in NYC in the 2010s.

In 2019, FCP released their first, self-titled mini album, which combined dream pop and ambient original songs, plus their take on an Irish trad tune recorded on penny whistle in the middle of Forest Park in Queens.

After a decade of playing in various groups around the city, the trio relocated to the Catskills, in search of a closer connection to nature and more space to make sound (and collect instruments and recording gear). This shift toward a quieter life while reckoning with the world’s chaos and suffering shaped their 2025 LP Songs for the Moon.

With Songs for the Moon, it might be easiest to call them “piano-forward soft rock,” but FCP draws from a wide musical spectrum — a touch of bossa nova here, a dash of new age chorale there — and ties it all together with a spacious “living room” sound.

The Fascinating Chimera Project’s music has been heard in children’s classrooms and on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. Daud hopes her songwriting invites introspection and a playful, uplifted spirit into the lives of listeners.
